Colorado City Main Street launches "This Place Matters" Campaign....

May is National Historic Preservation Month and your Colorado City Main Street is jumping on board to raise awareness about the power historic preservation has to protect and enhance our community and the place that really matter to us! We are launching the “This Place Matters” campaign, and we encourage citizens to participate in the This Place Matters theme by taking these easy steps: First, download and print out a "This Place Matters" sign from the Web site, http://www.preservationnation.org/take-action/preservation-month/. If you are without a computer and need a sign, you can also call 242-0206 or 242-1086 to get a sign. Next, snap a photo of people holding the sign and standing in front of a building or place of particular personal significance. Then, email your photo to ccitymatters.hotmail.com. along with a brief story about the place and why it matters to you! If you don't have email access, you can call us to have your picture picked up. We will be uploading these photos to the National Preservation website, and will also feature photos in the Colorado Record and at kvmckaum@blogspot.com! Main Street will also be compiling all of these photos into a custom photo book, which will be available to purchase at the upcoming Junktique Jamboree on September 26th and 27th! Please join us as we honor the places in Colorado City that truly matter to all of us! If you have any questions, please contact Main Street Director Cecilia Scott at 325.242.0206.
