A new bike for Haelyn Limones!

Bubba Limones, his wife Leeann and two of their 3 children, Lathan and Haelyn (brother Bradon was at football practice) came out to the station yesterday to report that Haelyn's bike had been stolen recently.  The good news is that a friend of the family has surprised Haelyn with a brand new bicycle!

An expensive water line break in Colorado City.

A gigantic water line break on Friday evening is going to prove costly to the City and very inconvenient to the residents as well.  We did get word from the City this morning that the leak has been fixed, the water towers have filled back up and everyone can now use water.





Lions Club presents a GPS System....

The Colorado City Lions Clud, dedicated to helping the blind, scored big Friday during the noon hour.  A voice GPS system was presented to Lela Behee, who is blind, and she is thankful for the gift.

Australian coins/medallions found at Ruddick Park!

Gary Chaney recently struck silver at Ruddick Park with his metal detector!  He found thse Australian coins/medallions that were minted back in 1944.  Anyone have any idea who they may have belonged to?

St. Ann's Fall Festival at the Railhead

The Railhead was the a new venue for the Annual Fall Festival, held by St. Ann's Catholic Chuch and it was another successful venture for the church and both kids and adults had plenty to see and do.    Games were the big attraction along with delicious food.





Westbrook Post Office gets great news!

The Westbrook Post Office will remain open!  The Postal Service's Ernie Jones made that announcement to some 35 residents at a recent public meeting in Westbrook.

Raising the roof at the new County Jail.

Construction workers are now putting the roof on the new Mitchell County  jail.  A crane is lifting 2500 pound planks on top of the jail.  Sheriff Patrick Toombs says there will be 10 truckloads of the planks.

A big time at the Boer Goat Cook-Off!

The cooler temoperatures didn't stop the cookers, judges and spectators from packing Ruddick Park this past weekend for the Fire Department's Annual Boer Goat Cook-Off! 

Maz Webb was given a special award in memory of her late husband, Linton Ray Webb, who started the Cook-Off 17 years ago.


"Boney's Boneyard" won the award for the "Best Camp" for the 12th year in a row!


Larry Johnson and his family and friends celebrate their 3rd place overall win and a $500.00 check!

Judges had a rough job sampling all of the delicious food!

Pink It Up Style Show at Desert Rain!

A good crowd turned out lasy night at Desert Rain for the Pink It Up Style Show, produced by the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.  The show benefitted the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Fashions for the show were provided by Desert Rain, Bella Janes and The Dragonly.
